Junior High ESII

Peace Prayer of Saint Francis
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace:

where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy.

O divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console,
to be understood as to understand,
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
Amen.

Community Helpers

“Community helpers are people who live and work in our communities. They do many different things to help us every day. They provide us with goods (products we use) and services (things they do for us). Some examples of community helpers are: doctors, nurses, chefs, bakers, astronauts, soldiers, teachers, dentists, mail carriers, bus drivers, coaches, babysitters, fishermen, plumbers, firefighters, farmers, librarians, and volunteers. Think of all the people in your community who do these jobs. Talk about these different jobs with your children. Your children can learn a lot from community helpers!”  by Julie A. Monday May 11th, 2020

This week’s task:

    Mother Mary, Pray for Us.

 May is the Month of Mary

Catholics first started dedicating the month of May St. Mary around the end of the 13th century.
St. Mary is the Mother of Jesus. She was chosen by God to be the mother of his son.
She is the greatest of all saints and is an inspiration and role model for all of us.
The Blessed Virgin Mary is the Mother of the Church and therefore is a guide and inspiration, of everyone.
She was the first disciple of Jesus.  She devoted her life to Jesus.
St, Mary is also our Mother. She is our spiritual mother.
St. Mary is our advocate; we can ask her to pray for us.
St. Mary is the mother of Jesus.
Her parents Anne and Joachim are also saints.
She also referred to as the Virgin Mary or Mary, Mother of God.
St. Gabriel the Archangel appeared to her and told her she would be the mother of Jesus, the son of God.
Jesus, Mary and Joseph are known as the Holy Family.
The Assumption of Mary is when her whole body went to heaven.
She is the patron saint of all humanity.
St. Mary has several feasts some of her prominent feast days are:
-      January 1 – Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God
-      August 15 – The Assumption of St. Mary
-      September 8 – The birth of St. Mary
-      December 8 – Immaculate Conception of St. Mary

The month of May is also Mother’s Day celebration where we take the time to celebrate our wonderful and amazing mothers. This week, we will be reflecting, praying and creating art pieces about Mother Mary. To honor Mother Mary for the month of May, we can pray the rosary or pray the Hail Mary each day, include Mother Mary’s art piece or statue in our prayer corners at home or share our experiences about the many blessings a mother has for her child such as Mother Mary, who gave us Jesus her only begotten son who made the ultimate sacrifice for us all so that we can be saved from sin and live eternal life in heaven.
Task:
1 Color the picture and pray the Hail Mary. Include this art piece in your prayer corner at home, share with me your prayer corner via photos. Write a journal describing Mother Mary, use the information about Mother Mary above to guide your journal writing.
Hail Mary
Hail Mary, full of grace,
the Lord is with you.
Blessed are you among women,
and blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
pray for us sinners,
now and at the hour of our death.
Amen.

This verse is a reminder to give God the glory, when we do anything good on this earth.  It is not us that does good alone, but through the power of Jesus Christ working through us.

This worksheet was sent home two weeks ago. Please I will encourage you to continue to support your child’s lent pledge. Below are some general lent pledges that were discussed and complied. It could be a good idea to use this checklist as a tracking record during this time and discuss the purpose and meaning to remind your child the importance of lent.

Spend less time watching television and more time with family

Donate to a charity

To reduce some uncertainty and gain some sort of understanding and control, here is our school's district calendar for 2019-2020 and 2020-2021. Your child can count down the days until school reopens. This could be a fun and engaging numeracy and literacy activity for your child each day. Good Morning ESll Junior High Family,

Trust that you had a restful Easter break:
Here are the April 20th Morning Announcements including: Morning Prayer from Jesus Calling for Kids, Scripture reading “Psalm 23”, April 20th

Psalm 23
"The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside still waters;
He restores my soul. He leads me in right paths For His Name's sake.
Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I fear no evil;
For you are with me;
Your rod and Your staff - they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies, You anoint my head with oil;
My cup overflows.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me All the days of my life. And I shall dwell in the house of the Lord My whole life long".

It is not for you to know the times or periods that the Father has set by his own authority.”  Acts. 1:7

This verse is a reminder that everything happens in God’s timing, that God is in control.  We do not know what will happen in the next 10 minutes, in an hour, tomorrow, next week or next year.  That is not for us to know.  All God is asking of us, is to trust in Him and live in the moment.  The present moment is a gift…live fully in this gift from God.

In Christ,
